Indications for use
The oral glucose tolerance test should be used, when the blood glucose content does not allow diagnosing impaired glucose tolerance or diabetes.
Pharmacotherapeutic group: Diagnostic products. Tests to detect diabetes. Dextrose.
A patient should not reduce the amount of meals within 3 days before testing. Immediately before testing, a patient should not eat within 10-16 hours. The test should be made in the morning. Firstly, determine the fasting blood glucose level. Then, within 5 minutes a patient should drink 75 mg (5 sachets of 15 g) of glucose dissolved in one glass (250 ml) of water. When overweighted patients are tested, add glucose according to the calculation: 1 g per 1 kg of body weight, but no more than 100 g. 2 hours later determine the blood glucose level.
Children. After the first blood sampling from a finger, a child under test should take the aqueous solution of glucose within 5 min according to the calculation: 1.75 g per 1 kg of body weight, but no more than 75 g.
